Children’s dental treatments in Alicante
It covers a wide range of treatments focused on complete dental care for children. These are the most common ones:
Pulpotomy
Similar to a root canal in adults, a pulpotomy is done on baby teeth affected by deep decay, to save the tooth instead of extracting it.
Fillings
Common in children and adults alike, a filling repairs a tooth affected by decay, taking away the pain and getting the tooth working again.
Ortodoncia
Orthodontics corrects the position of the teeth and how the jaw develops. The aim is to fix alignment problems and bite problems, and to guide the teeth and jaws as they grow.
Interceptive orthodontics
Used to correct dental and jaw problems while the child is still growing. It tackles issues that get harder to fix if they are left.
Space maintainers
Used to hold the right gap when a baby tooth is lost early, so the permanent teeth come through in the right place.
Scale and polish
Carried out by the paediatric dentist to remove tartar and staining and keep the child’s mouth healthy.
Fissure sealants
A preventive treatment: a sealant is applied into the grooves of the tooth to protect against decay. It is painless and works very well.
Fluoride application
A preventive treatment that strengthens the enamel and helps prevent decay.
What happens at your child’s appointment
Free first visit
Your child’s first appointment at our clinic in Alicante is free. We check how their teeth and gums are doing and talk through whatever is worrying you.
Prevention plan
We talk about brushing and eating habits. At this point we may also apply preventive treatments such as fluoride or fissure sealants.
Treatment
If we find decay, a bite problem or something in how the teeth are developing, we plan the right treatment. That may be fillings, a pulpotomy or starting interceptive orthodontics.
Follow-up
We schedule regular follow-ups to see how things are going and adjust if needed. They are also a chance to go over brushing and flossing with your child.
Finishing up
Once treatment is finished we do a final check to make sure we got where we set out to, and we give you advice for looking after their teeth from then on.
